High helix thread spindles are mostly used as movement or drive threads. The main feature of these threads is that the pitch is very large in relation to the diameter. This means that a small radial movement can be converted into large axial movements.
In order to increase the pitch of the thread, either the thread profile is widened or multi-start threads with several threads running in parallel are used. The term high-helix thread cannot be used to precisely define the thread shape.
High helix thread nuts are primarily used when large strokes have to be completed in a short time or when self-locking is not desired for technical reasons.
Compared to trapezoidal screw drives, the efficiency is significantly higher. However, due to the large gradient, a higher drive torque is also required.
