Future Proof Protocol Converter – UNIGATE FALCON PROFINET

The device easily connects devices to PROFINET networks. It offers serial interfaces, Ethernet port, CAN option and supports MRP and S2. With ARM Cortex-M processor, web configuration and fast programming, it optimises design times and efficiency.

In addition to the PROFINET device interface, the DIN rail module has serial interfaces (RS232/RS422/RS485), an additional standard Ethernet port and an optional CAN interface as standard. This means that a wide variety of automation components can be quickly and easily connected to a PROFINET network. The PROFINET device interface has an integrated 2-port switch. MRP (Media Redundancy Protocol) and S2 system redundancy are supported. In addition, up to 1024 bytes of input and output data can be transferred via this interface.
The UNIGATE FALCON series has a modular design with the aim of realising the best possible solution for the respective application in a cost-optimised manner.

Thanks to its extremely compact design with dimensions of 25.0 mm x 95.0 mm x 95.0 mm (W x H x D), the device is a good 30 per cent smaller than its predecessor. The size of the new top-hat rail modules is identical in all bus versions.

UNIGATE FALCON is based on ARM Cortex-M processor technology, which ensures a significantly higher data throughput compared to the previous generation. The transmission rates of the serial interfaces are 6 MBaud and are therefore around ten times faster in RS485/422 operation.

Configuration is carried out conveniently via the web interface over the Ethernet interface.

Free programming is possible with the Protocol Developer IDE and the Deutschmann Script language developed by Deutschmann Automation.
It allows the emulation of proprietary protocols as well as the implementation of standard protocols. Simple scripts can be processed in just a few microseconds. This corresponds to an acceleration by a factor of 80. Script debugging is carried out via the USB interface.

The service menu, which can be selected via a button, also enables uncomplicated support in the event of servicing.
