Improve what moves. With this goal in mind, igus has been developing and producing motion plastics since 1964: lubrication-free and tribologically, i.e. in terms of friction and wear, optimized high-performance plastics for motion. These include products from the fields of energy chains, cables, plain, ball and spherical bearings, linear and drive technology, semi-finished products, 3D printing, low-cost robotics and intelligent sensor technology, which help customers to improve their technology and reduce costs. The Cologne-based business is represented in 31 countries and employs around 5,000 people worldwide. Research in the company’s own 4,000 square meter test laboratory continuously produces innovations and greater safety for users. 243,000 products in over 1,000,000 variations are available from stock and the service life can be calculated online.
At the same time, igus is also driving forward the circular economy for plastics, for example with the “chainge” online platform for recycling technical plastics, which was launched in 2019. In addition, igus is continuously developing new digital services such as the iguverse – an industrial metaverse that serves as a collaboration platform and offers completely new possibilities for product development and prototype production. Or the igusGO app, which uses artificial intelligence to show the optimization potential of various applications through the use of motion plastics in just a few seconds.
